Buffalo

We were on the Kaibab Plateau near the entrance to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon when we saw what appeared to be a herd of cattle grazing in those big meadows. As we got closer we noticed a lot of vehicles stopped on the highway. We then realized that it wasn't cattle, but it was bison - American Buffalo. This was the first time that was saw wild buffalo in Arizona. We estimate that there was about 140 to 150 buffalo in these meadows. That gave us the opportunity to get some good pictures.

    Enjoy.
